Checklist to Rent Shipping Containers

To start your rental process, consider the following checklist to ensure you have everything covered:

  1. Size of the Maritime Container: Choose correctly whether you need a 20-foot or 40-foot container and its height: 2.60m or 2.90m.
  2. Project Term and Container Use Time: The rental period will determine your negotiation with the supplier. The longer you rent it, the more benefits and services some leasing companies offer.
  3. Estimate Hauling Costs: Transporting your shipping container to its destination involves moving it and loading/unloading maneuvers. Consider these approximate costs when returning the container.
  4. Special Features: If you need your shipping container modified or with special additions, order them in advance and check their feasibility. Possible features include:
    - Padlock or security system against theft.
    - Special or different doors
    - Installations for services or pipes
    - Installation of shelves
    - Electrical installation
  5. Inspection Process: Make sure you know what to inspect to confirm your container is in the best condition.
  6. Condition the Place: Set up the space where the container will be installed. Ask your supplier about the required floor or space conditions.
  7. Get the Best Negotiation: When you have assessed all the above factors, negotiate with your supplier. Clear information will help you achieve a better rental deal. Consider negotiations that include:
    - Maintenance program
    - Contracts with purchase options
  8. Expert Tip: A long-term contract for suppliers is over six months.
